Introducing Breadcrumbs for Android

The Crittercism Android library now supports breadcrumbs!!  As developers know, it’s hard to test every use-case for your app, and find every crash.  That is, after all, why this company exists, and why we provide breadcrumbs in our library.  With a simple API call, you can now get a playback of a user’s actions before your app crashed.  When a crash occurs, the breadcrumbs from the user’s current and previous sessions are sent to the website, so you clearly relate their actions to the crash.  With breadcrumb data, you also get information about session length, since we automatically place a “session_start” breadcrumb upon instantiation of the Critter.  As a result, breadcrumbs supplement the logcat data we provide you and enable you to get richer information on the crash.

Crittercism at the 2012 AT&T Developer Summit

We’ll be in Las Vegas for the annual AT&T Developer Summit! Come find us for free t-shirts and other awesome schwag. We’d love to meet some of our sin city devs, and perhaps we’ll play a few hands!

Android Co-Founder Rich Miner on Crittercism

Rich Miner, the co-founder of Android and a partner at Google Ventures speaking about Crittercism at Venture Beat’s MobileBeat 2011 Conference.  You can hear us laughing in the background near the end when he’s asked to spell our name.

Happy New Year with OpenID Google Sign-in Goodness!

Hey sportsracers, are you having an awesome and fruitful holiday break?  That’s good, because we certainly have.  Here at Crittercism Labs, we’ve been anticipating the new year by doing what all normal people do, read algorithm textbooks!  Just kiddin’ (not really).

We’ve also been taking advantage of some extra hours in the day while our families are sleeping, to adding all the little extra features (ornaments if you will) that will add some Christmas cheer.  On the first day of Christmas, Andrew brought to you…”OpenID login support!”

Crittercism-openid-google

Tired of logging typing in your password?  Are you always logged into gmail anyway?  Well, today is your lucky day!  Now when you login, you’ll notice a little button the right side of the screen that lets you log straight into Crittercism using your GMail account.  Typing is overrated anyway.

Have you already created your Crittercism account without connecting it to your google account?  Well have no fear, if you go to your app settings page, you can connect your google account right there too!

Stand by for some more holiday goodness, but in the meantime be excellent to each other.

Nyan-Cat to the Rescue!

I think it’s official – my co-founder/designer, Jeeyun, has become a Nyan-Cat fanatic.  First, it was the Nyan-cat halloween costume

Now, it’s our 404 page.

(For those of you that are out of the loop: Nyan-Cat)

Alternate Critters

We know it’s long past Halloween, but that’s never stopped us before right?  Any crash reporting tool has to be flexible and adaptable to the times and so does our Critter… any requests for other Critters?

AnDevCon II

Appengine

It’s that time of year–leaves are changing color, the days are getting shorter and cooler, Kevin is foraging for his winter hibernation…and, of course, Crittercism is going to AnDevCon II!  Yeah, that’s right.  I’ll be there sporting my oh-so-fashionable App Engine hat, and the hope is that some of the material from the cool course offerings there will percolate through my hat and into my head!  Maybe I’ll get to bump into some of you there, and finally come face-to-face with our awesome customers who I’ve corresponded with by email.  Seriously, your emails have been absolutely invaluable in working out the kinks in the Crittercism Android beta–I cannot emphasize that enough.

Oh, and did I mention that Crittercism is giving away an NES + Power Glove in a raffle?  Truly a manifestation of machine-age luxury…
